History of Our Practice We are a general dentistry practice located on Maple Road in Williamsville.  The practice began in 1970 on Niagara Falls Boulevard in the town of Tonawanda.  It was founded on a few simple principles taught early in life—Honesty and Integrity.  Treat all patients like they were your parents, your children or your best friend.

Your First Visit Our goal is to help our patients keep their teeth for their entire life. Like everything else this is easiest if we begin early in life. It is easier to keep things in good working order if we maintain our mouth in its original condition. However that is not always the case. That is where the dental team comes in.

We begin with a detailed medical and dental history. Once we have reviewed and discussed your histories with you, our next step is a Head and Neck Cancer Screening.  Since not too many people get as close to your face and neck as we do, we look for any lumps, bumps or abnormalities that do not belong there.  Skin infections, cancers, tumors and signs of other possible medical problems. There is a lot of new medical research relating dental and oral health to general health, especially linking the germs that cause gum disease with some heart and blood vessel disease. Diabetes is sometimes apparent in the gums. Endocrine disturbances are sometimes noticed. Occasionally eating disorders can also be detected. This is usually accomplished with the medical and dental history and the external visual examination.

Then we proceed to look inside the mouth, again looking for signs and symptoms of all the various conditions mentioned already and more specifically for oral and dental conditions. The skin of the lips, cheeks, tongue and throat are examined. The gums and bone support of each tooth are evaluated for health and infections. Each tooth is examined and its condition recorded. At some point during the examination, a thorough x-ray survey is taken and the pictures are evaluated and coordinated with the visual findings.

Once all the information has been gathered, reviewed and presented, together we decide upon a plan of action. Of course pain and emergency treatment is done first. Next we treat the gums. Healthy gums are what support our teeth and keep them solidly in our mouth. Once any pain is gone, the gums are healthy and our patients are able to maintain this healthy condition, we move on to removing decay and restoring teeth to optimal condition.
